Vista and Windows7 issues with Component Edit grid Back

Introduction

On a few Windows Vista and Windows 7-based systems, the Microsoft 'Flexgrid' control used for Component Edit may not operate properly, or may cause the application to quit as soon as an attempt is made to display the grid.

How to restore the grid control

The procedure involves re-registering the Microsoft grid control file (MSFLXGRD.OCX) with the operating system, so that when Easy-PC tries to create a grid, the operating system knows where to go to find the code to do it.

It is important to follow all these steps, especially the use of the 'Run As Administrator' menu command, otherwise the grid operation may not be restored even though you may get messages from the operating system that the commands are 'successful'.

  1. Navigate to Start, All Programs, Accessories, right-click on 'Command Prompt' and select 'Run As Administrator'.
  2. Type
CD C:\Windows\System32 (or C:\Windows\SysWOW64 on a 64-bit variant of Windows)
  3. Type
    regsvr32 msflxgrd.ocx
  4. Type
    exit
  5. Navigate to Start, All Programs, Number One Systems, right-click on 'Easy-PC' and select 'Run As Administrator'. You will probably still get an error at this point.
  6. Open a component for edit, close it again, restart the program.
