Hi all,
I can't find anything related to this though I am sure there must be something somewhere I can't be the only one with this problem.
If there are posts relating to this I'm sorry for bringing it up again, but can you point me to them.... Thanks!
When I have a board outline that I need to place mounting holes it's not easy!
Assume I need round holes (more usual than not), and I need 4, 3mm diameter holes the same size, one near each corner, say the centres are 5mm from the board edges.
The board could be anywhere in the drawing area as I tend to move it about when I am lining things up, I find it easier that way.
I draw a 3mm hole and then try to place it where it needs to be but the centre of the hole doesn't snap to the grid (I wish it would, or can it???), so I place it the best I can and measure where it is or look at the properties and keep doing that until I can't get it any better placed. I then need to do the same for the other 3 holes, a pain!!!
If I try to replicate, duplicate or copy the hole I get the board too, a pain again.
Is there an easier way to position cutouts? I'm sure there is but I have looked till my eyes hurt and it's quicker to carry on doing what I am doing that searching for another way and not finding one.
Any help would be a greatly received and appreciated.

Thanks Guys, at least 2 ways better than trying to use the cutout route.
However it means I'll end up with loads of parts or defined different holes after a while and a half decent cutout function would have been better.
Lets hope the writers are looking in and will sort it out, it reminds me of the part alignment issues I had before they wrote it to work right (though I'm still waiting for them to get the alignment sorted out for text when aligned with a part....

To do a mounting hole just use a through hole pad. You can set the annular ring to the same size as the hole, but it's sometimes handy to have the annular ring to create clearance area for pillers or screw heads etc.
You can mark hole as plated or not. Use the group alignment tools to align them with each other if placement becomes fiddly.

The best way is to create a "Mounting Hole" component complete with pad and silk-screen. Then it's easy to place and duplicate.
