Posted - 27 Feb 2017 : 12:23:35 Hi,
I’m hoping you can help me. I’m doing my first layout in EasyPC (which is an update of an existing design) but all the GND pads have a sort of round symbol on them and no rats nest links associated with them. (I don't know how to attach a picture).
Could you tell me why please and how I can turn it off so I can connect them?
Thanks,
Graham

If you look at the Design Technology dialog -> Layers tab I suspect you will see that one of the Inner Layers has GND assigned as the Net. |

Posted - 27 Feb 2017 : 21:34:04 Just been able to open the picture file. The nets are showing for the +5 so ignore what I was saying about ticking the connection box. Make sure that show connection is set for your GND nets and these nets should show. Now that circular symbol .... I've seen that before sometimes when I'm editing but not sure what it means, I remember reading about it in one of the updates I think but I've looked through 19/18/17 but see nothing about this so it may have been earlier (or I was dreaming it !) .... seem to remember it was something about nets close to or coincident with each other .... ask Numberone, they will have this answered in an instant !

Posted - 27 Feb 2017 : 17:08:36 Hi, those colours were before you told me how to change them. GND is a different color now.

Posted - 27 Feb 2017 : 15:48:49 Looks like you have now set the +5V net Green and GND is (default) red?

Posted - 27 Feb 2017 : 14:06:19 Thanks for the reply. They are all connected, but I still checked. The colour tips were useful though, thanks.
How do I attach a picture to show the symbol?
Thanks,
Graham

Posted - 27 Feb 2017 : 12:40:56 Firstly, you need to ensure that on the schematic that each leg that connects to the GND symbol has been named as net GND. You can do this by right clicking the leg and choose "Change Net" from the drop down menu. You could also left click the wire and if it is connected to GND then this information will appear in the bottom toolbar. Make sure that all nets have been named GND and then do a "Tools" =>"Forward Design Changes". All (Gnd) nets in the PCB will then be connected to Gnd.
You can also assign a colour (Green perhaps?) to all nets named GND to visually confirm that they are indeed connected to GND (in both Schematic & PCB Editors). Right click net, =>Properties, Net, - Use This Colour.
Hope this helps somewhat.
