Posted - 20 Oct 2014 : 16:55:26 Hello, When I attempt to change the net of a Via, a dialog box tells me that "this operation will cause the following two nets to be joined." However, I do not want those two nets to be joined. How can I change the net of a via (the via has no trace or anything else attached) to the net that I would like without the nets merging?

Posted - 22 Oct 2014 : 15:26:34 You both are correct all of the via's had nets already assigned. I had used a previous design that had the same footprint so nets were pre-assigned to the via's. Everything else was deleted from the board. I thought that you would then be able to change the net or disconnect from the net since there are no traces connecting one via to another. Even if I change one of them to a new net it automatically changes the net of all via's on that net and delete's the old net.
In the end I had to note the position of all of my via's, delete them and create new ones.

Posted - 20 Oct 2014 : 17:30:02 I think your via has a net name associated to it, which is why you are being warned about joining two nets.
Select the via (which has "nothing" connected to it) and see what the status bar says. It'll probably give you a net name. Highlight that net to see if it's unique to just the via. You cannot right click the via and "Disconnect from Net", so you will have to accept that the two nets will be joined. Having the via selected you could then right click, NET>Change Net to an unique net or the net name of your choice. You could delete the via and add a new pad (F4) which will not have a net name associated with it. |
