I have asked for this to be sorted out a while ago but have found the problem is still here.

If I produce a component that is only a single pad it does not appear highlighted when selected in "pad styles" of Design Technology.

Is this a bug?

Had a reply from Peter @ support.

The programmers have acknowledged that it’s not helpful that when a single pad and a component are the same item, it defaults to component select. They’ve made a minor change to the code, so that the properties of a single pad component will in future also include the properties of the single pad. Changing the code so that both alternatives are available turns out to require a major code restructure, so it's probably not worth doing when the frequency of occurrence is considered.

Still a bug if not highlighting

Thanks Iain

No,

After translating the pad style is there... you can do a pad exception if you want, it just doesn't highlight for some reason.

Thank Iain,

So translating to pcb you cannot add exceptions.
only when adding the component/pad to pcb design can the exceptions be added.

I consider this a bug.

I have contacted Peter again about this.

Just tried this.....

The only thing I find is once translated to pcb, the pad does appear in the pad list table BUT it is not highlighted. If you add another pad to the pcb layout the it does highlight !

Andy, I would, except I'm out of the office at the moment And don't have access to EPC. Have you tried creating a single pin component manually? It should take less time than using the wizard.Maybe the wizard doesn't understand single pin components. I normally create my own components manually, that way there is only 1 person to blame should an error occur.

Ok I have just made a new one pad component using wizard and it still does not show up in pad styles if translated to pcb.
It does when placing direct into pcb design.

This must be a bug.

So could someone please try this out.
Design a single schematic symbol of a connector and a single pad .
Using wizard for both.

Thanks

Just re-create the component, it's only one pin will only take a moment.

Sorry Andy, I no longer appear to have have a "1P" in my libraries.

Most of my library symbols have been updated and renamed and I've deleted the native item supplied by No.1.

Maybe, this is a clue!

Ok It must be my setup.

If I place this component straight into a PCB design it's OK
If I place in schematic and translate its not.

I'm stummped.

If you could try using Easy PC symbol 1P and a standards style pad that would be great.

Thanks

Andy, I did add the component to an existing design, then forwarded design changes. All everything as I expected.

I've just created a new design with two of these 1 way "Molex" components shorted together and then "translated to pcb". The pad styles appear as expected.

Exception.... Typo

Could you try

placing this component in a schematic and then translate to pcb.
See if it shows up in pad styles.

thanks

Hi Andy, I've created a 1 way/ 1pad "Molex" style connector thru hole component.

It appears in the Design Tech and also I can select it in the GOTO => Pad Style tab.

I can also modify it with Properties=> exception (exemption?).
Maybe I've misunderstood your point?

AndyB Posted - 18 Mar 2015 : 13:39:04
I have contacted Technical on this a couple of times last year and it still seems to be a problem.

Can anyone check this out please.

If you make a component that is one pad only it will not show up in design technology when selected in pcb design.

Hence you will not be able to add exemptions.
