Perhaps this is one for the developers...

With a pad or component you can usually right-click on it and manually enter co-ordinates for precise positioning, but I cannot seem to do this for board edges, silk screen lines etc. Unless I've missed something, why is this?

This is great for setting a fresh line or outline but not for adjusting an existing one.

All I'm saying is that if I want to adjust a pad or component, I can either click Properties and manually enter co-ords, or click and drag whilst watching the co-ords at the lower-right of the screen. For lines or edges of shapes though you don't get offered the former option, I only seem to be able to do the latter.

Try left clicking a segment of the shape,
right click =>edit segment
right click => Type Co-ordinate

Ok, we're getting there, that works but I still can't move a line as a whole, only one end then the other - the cursor jumps to the end of the segment (aka the highlighted line), even though the "Edit segment towards nearest end" option in PCB Interaction (Preferences) is unticked?

Do View -> Dock-able Bars -> Shape Information

When you select the shape the various points (start and end), radius or length and width are defined along with start co-ordinates.

That is the simplest way i have found for editing some shapes.
