I have used this utility many times in the past and and unless it was a simple 2 layer board with no floods it seemed ok. However once copper floods are involved it becomes a bit more involved. Every time before I have simply struggled through using trying different methods and albeit I get there in the end, I cannot then remember the actual route I took to achieve it !
I have now completed another import, but this time I have made notes as to how I went about this .... its pretty involved but I think I could maybe point anyone who is having difficulties in the right direction.
I wonder if you found that pad "shapes" were represented as per the original Gerbers. I've found in the past that any non-circular pads "lost" their shape during Intelligent Import procedure and ended up being round in EPC. I don't believe that too much development of this optional Intelligent Gerber Import feature has taken place over the years.
Just done an import with rectangular SM pads and they maintained their size and shape ok. All other through holes where ok but of course they were circular. I would need to try an import with non-circular holes if that what you mean ?
last time I tried this EasyPC would not correctly read data that it had created. If I remember correctly, rounded rectangle pads were imported as circular.
