I'm on V19:
Is there a file or some other means to view the actual net list for
sch or pcb, showing a table of all nets and their terminals etc?
I assume it is stored somewhere but can't find it.

Just go to OUTPUT/NETLIST. This will generate netlist as a .net file that you can view in a text editor.
