Posted - 20 Jul 2016 : 22:44:48 Hello, I have a lot of via fencing in my design that I've already placed and would like to assign these all to one ground. When I select one via I can go through the drop down menu and select "add to net" and everything is fine. When I select more than one this option goes away. Do I have to select each one individually to assign the net (there are a lot of them) or is there a trick that I'm not aware of?
Thanks |

Its on the "tools" tab called Apply Vias.
Sorry for calling to stitching ... thats just how I remember it !

This is what I need to remember to do in the future. I don't use the program frequently enough to remember these things, until it's too late.
Iain: I'm not aware of the stitching utility, I searched for it in the help and didn't see it. Can you explain a little more about it? How I normally do the via fencing is align one via and then use the replicate feature. |

Posted - 21 Jul 2016 : 08:58:08 I usually add the first via, set the size, etc. then assign it to the GND net.
Then simply copy that via and paste it ! The pasted copies will automatically be assigned to the same net !
TIP: For fencing, I usually do a copper pour first as a guide, then add via's where they are needed (as well as ensuring island fills have multiple via's to prevent them being antennas), then I clear the pour and then redo the fill. |
