Hello, Could you tell me how to change a power plane layer into a layer without bias? I created a powerplane inner layer and now wish to change it into a copper pour layer. When i change the electrical bias in the layers tab it comes back with a message window that says " Bias of layer Top inner copper forced to be power plane".
Thanks edrees, the design technology - layers tab is where the pop up window is seen that says the layer is forced to be a power plane layer. The copper cannot be deleted due to the fact it is a power plane and therefore cannot highlight it. I can pour copper on the layer which brings up a warning that you shouldn't pour copper on a true power plane layer...blah blah.. so it's not a huge problem. I will have to check the gerbers carefully though as i have no idea at present what's going to get plotted. Thanks for the help, any other ideas greatfully received... Lee
Try deleting the power plane layers and then re-create them as copper pour layers. Note that bias on an electrical layer is really only information for an autorouter.
Thanks all for your help. I've saved this PCB using a different file name and a different workstation and it appears to have cured the problem. No more power plane. I have no idea why this would have worked but it has so thanks again. Lee
